Brookings provides paid internships to nearly 150 degree-seeking students and recent graduates annually, with cohorts each spring, summer, and fall.
The Brookings Internship is a way for students and graduates to grow in their career development and also an opportunity to learn new skills also, it aims to provide a pre-professional, meaningful and practical work experience related to the student’s field of study or career interest.

Requirement and Eligibility Criteria for the Brookings Internship:
- Individuals of any background and level of experience.
- Current undergraduate and master’s students (PhD students are not eligible).
- Recent graduates, occasionally.
- Individual internship postings specify opportunities open to recent graduates
- Individuals selected for a Brookings internship must have graduated within one year prior to the start of their internship.
- International students with a visa status sponsored by their college or university, or are authorized to work in the U.S if you have employment authorization or you are currently in F-1 or J-1 student status and would be applying for (or have applied for) OPT or CPT if selected for a Brookings internship.

Application Procedures for the Brookings Internship (How to Apply):
Interested applicants for the Brookings Internship 2024 are to submit their completed application on or before the application deadline.
All applicants receive a confirmation email once a complete application is received. In instances where applications are incomplete, applicants are notified via email and are instructed to access their Candidate Profile within Brookings’ Applicant Tracking System, iCIMS, to complete and resubmit their application.

- If required in the position description: Writing sample
If selected as an internship finalist (this is NOT required as part of the application process), applicants will receive instructions to provide the following:
- Contact information for two (2) references OR two (2) letters of recommendation. Confidential letters of recommendation can be emailed directly to internships@brookings.edu.
- If the internship is through an external partnership: Written documentation of eligibility (i.e., letter from the university or organization confirming such with the amount of external funding provided).
