WITS-TUB-UNILAG Urban Lab 2023 Scholarships for sub-Saharan African Nationals
Applications are now being accepted for the 2023 WITS-TUB-UNILAG Urban Lab Scholarships, which are available to individuals from sub-Saharan Africa. These scholarships are part of the collaborative initiative between the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits), the University of Lagos (UNILAG), and the Technische Universität Berlin (TUB) known as the Wits-TUB-UNILAG Urban Lab Programme.
In addition to the collaborative efforts in the urban management masters programs at TUB, Wits, and UNILAG, the program aims to foster international knowledge exchange among research institutions and enhance the network of urban academics across Africa. Through a competitive selection process, four fully funded PhD scholarships will be granted. These scholarships will be awarded to two South African candidates and two candidates from other countries in sub-Saharan Africa. The selected PhD students will commence their studies at the University of the Witwatersrand in February 2022, collaborating with the Technical University Berlin and the University of Lagos. The funding will cover their expenses for a period of four years, spanning from 2022 to 2025.
The program provides an opportunity for scholars from various countries in sub-Saharan Africa to participate in the Master of Urban Studies program in the field of Urban Management at Wits University. Additionally, it allows for PhD studies at both Wits University and UNILAG. As part of this initiative, a new Masters degree in urban management will be introduced at UNILAG in 2021, supported by scholarships from the program.

- Applicants must be a sub-Saharan African Nationals
- Applicants enrolling for masters and PhD programs
- Applicants must be ready to enrol in a full-time program
- Applicants to partake in the Master of Urban Studies in the field of Urban Management at Wits as well as PhD studies at both Wits and UNILAG.
