MONGABAY 2024 Internship Program for Students and Graduates
We’re currently seeking motivated and talented individuals to apply for the MONGABAY Internship Program, which kicks off in Spring 2024 (January 1 – June 30, 2024). This program provides interns with the chance to enhance their writing skills and transition into professionals.
This internship program offers a partially paid opportunity. Interns can cultivate their writing skills and see their news stories featured on the prestigious Mongabay website, reaching millions of global readers each month.

Program Schedule
- The interns will be working virtually (at home or wherever they feel most productive) with set deadlines to be met. Flexible working hours per week where the intern is able to work but an average of 10 hours per week is required for the full six months. Some weeks could require 15 hours or so while others may be considerably less; interns have to be flexible and plan accordingly.
- The interns will be paid for 4 of their articles, with the two first being part of the initial learning period (rates will be discussed with internship editors in due course).

Application Procedures for the MONGABAY Internship Program (How to Apply):
To apply for the Mongabay Internship, interested candidates should complete an online application [here](insert application link). All submissions must be in English. Prepare the following documents before starting the application process:
- Resume
- Cover letter
- Explain your interest in the internship and detail the values and skills you bring to Mongabay.
- Motivation questions (available in the application form)
- Submit a writing sample from a journal entry or blog article (maximum 600 words).
- Alternatively, choose one of the following articles for your writing sample:
- “Beyond the numbers: Human attitudes and conflict with lions (Panthera leo) in and around Gambella National Park, Ethiopia”
- “Changes in the West African forest-savanna mosaic, insights from central Togo”
- “Thismia kelabitiana (Thismiaceae), a new unique Fairy Lantern from Borneo potentially threatened by commercial logging”
- Alternatively, choose one of the following articles for your writing sample:
- Optional: Include an additional writing sample of your own (maximum 600 words).
