The Michael Perham Sanctuary Scholarship 2023/2024 at University of Gloucestershire

University of Gloucestershire is delighted to invite as well as welcome highly intelligent and motivated international students seeking for asylum, refugees and their dependants who wish to further their academic path in the UK to take a chance on their ongoing Michael Perham Sanctuary Scholarship programme for the 2023/2024 academic session.

The scholarship is a fully funded one which means the full non refundable tuition fee will be provided to every successful applicants. The program have often be termed as one of the most competitive undergraduate and postgraduate scholarship offer as only one successful candidate will be selected both from the undergraduate and postgraduate level. The award is valued at about £10,000 per year.

The scholarship program is named after the former Bishop of Gloucester and University Pro Chancellor, the late Rt. Revd Michael Perham, and was established in recognition of the additional challenges and barriers in accessing higher education faced by refugees and people seeking asylum, and their dependants.

Requirements and eligibility criteria for the Michael Perham Sanctuary Scholarship 2023/2024;

  • be resident in the UK;
  • have been granted Refugee or Humanitarian Protection status, Discretionary Leave to Remain or Limited Leave to Remain or be seeking asylum within the UK, OR be a dependant of someone granted Refugee or Humanitarian Protection status, Discretionary Leave to Remain or Limited Leave to Remain or seeking asylum within the UK;
  • if seeking asylum, must have submitted a request for asylum to the UK Home Office before applying to the University of Gloucestershire;
  • (undergraduate applicants) have applied to begin studies on an undergraduate degree course at the University of Gloucestershire. Information on the undergraduate courses available may be found on the Study with us page. Applications for a place on a course may be made via UCAS before 25 January 2023 or via UCAS Extra after this date;
  • (postgraduate applicants) have applied to begin studies on a postgraduate degree course at the University of Gloucestershire. Information on the taught postgraduate courses available may be found on our course pages;
  • have completed the Sanctuary Scholarship application by 30 May 2023 and be able to provide evidence confirming immigration status;
  • be able to provide a reference in support of their application from a school, college, current/former employer, community or voluntary group.
