Graduate Research Scholarships 2023 at the University of Melbourne
The University of Melbourne is delighted to present the Graduate Research Scholarships to eligible and outstanding students who desire to pursue a full-time Masters by Research or a doctoral degree at the University, with a duration of up to 3.5 years.
High-achieving domestic and international students pursuing a Masters by Research or doctoral degree are eligible for this scholarship. Both domestic and international students who demonstrate academic excellence are awarded Graduate Research Scholarships, which include a stipend and fee offset.
This scholarship is open to students from all study areas and offers a fee remission of up to 100%. Approximately 600 applicants will receive awards of up to $110,000 each. For students pursuing a Masters by Research degree, a pro rata living allowance of $34,400 per year (based on the 2023 full-time study rate) will be provided for up to two years. For students undertaking a doctoral degree, the living allowance will be provided for up to 3.5 years. The living allowance may be adjusted annually to account for inflation and includes limited paid sick, maternity, and parenting leave.

Requirements and Eligibility Criteria for the Graduate Research Scholarships at Melbourne:
- Applicants must be domestic and international students based on academic merit.
- Applicants must be domestic or international students
- Applicants must have applied for and meet the entry requirements for a graduate research degree at the University of Melbourne, or be currently enrolled in a graduate research degree at the University of Melbourne.
Scholarship Benefits for the Graduate Research Scholarships at Melbourne:
- Full fee offset for up to two years for students undertaking a Masters by Research degree or up to four years for students undertaking a doctoral degree.
- Living allowance of $34,400 per year pro rata (2023 full-time study rate) for up to two years for students undertaking a Masters by Research degree or up to 3.5 years for students undertaking a doctoral degree. The living allowance may be indexed annually and includes limited paid sick, maternity and parenting leave.
- Relocation grant of $2000 for students moving from States or Territories other than Victoria or $3000 for students moving from outside Australia.
- Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) Single Membership for international students who require a student visa to study in Australia
- Fee offset scholarships
- Full fee offset for up to two years for students undertaking a Masters by Research degree or up to four years for students undertaking a doctoral degree.

Application Procedures for the Graduate Research Scholarships at Melbourne (How to Apply):
New students who have applied for a graduate research course before the application closing date will be automatically considered for the Graduate Research Scholarships.
However, if you have accepted an offer for a graduate research course but deferred your commencement to be reconsidered for a scholarship, you must submit an online application form by October 31st to be considered for a scholarship in the following year.
Similarly, if you are currently enrolled in a graduate research course and wish to apply for a scholarship for the following year, you must submit an online application form by October 31st.
